I was wondering if anyone who currently attends any of these schools could give me a lowdown on campus life. I'm talking social/night life, dorm life (which is the best dorm in your opinion, and why?), greek life, sports, the food, the students, the weather, clubs, activities, etc. I also want to know, how much of a commuter school are these schools?

Thank you to whoever responds!

Look up each school’s common data set, section F1. The percentage of frosh living in the school-operated residence halls may be a reasonable proxy for resident (versus commuter) students. The percentage for overall undergraduates is typically lower because many resident students live in off-campus nearby housing.

However, large schools could still have plenty of resident students (in absolute numbers) around even if the percentage of resident students is low.

I go to CSUN! The campus life is pretty good. We have things like Big Show, which is a concert that the school provides for a low fee like $10-20, last year they had Big Sean come to the school. This year, the school is having Afrojack to come to the Big Show. I’m not going since I’m not a Afrojack fan at all. They also have matador nights which is like the first two weeks of school and sometime in the spring.

There are a lot of parties but you have to find them. A lot of students have parties in their apartments outside of the school. In the dorms they have a lot of pool parties so if you know how to swim you may enjoy that too.

We have greek life and you’ll find out more about that when it’s meet the clubs week.

We don’t have a football team, but we have everything else (basketball, soccer (so far we’re best 2nd in the nation), volleyball, water polo, etc).

We have regular restaurants like Burger King, Panda Express, El Pollo Loco, and we have the school restaurants (Geronimo’s but I’ve never ate at the school restaurants at all, but I’ve heard that it’s horrible).

The weather is hot and cold. It’s in the valley so it’s not like Long Beach weather or San Diego weather (if you’ve ever been there). In the summer it’s hot and in the winter it’s windy and cold. Right now it’s in the 80’s and in the mornings it’s in the mid 50’s.

Northridge is a BIG commuter college, yes a lot of students live on campus but majority of them live off campus or in LA somewhere.

I can’t say much about CSULB, but I know the are is pretty nice. I have a lot of family that lives there. I can only talk about the weather and I can say that it gets warm but not hot like Northridge, and it’s not freezing either. I don’t think CSULB is a commuter school at all. It’s very competitive so make sure you have VERY good grades when you’re trying to get in there.
