I keep seeing all over the internet that CSUN is really boring, isn't fun at all, and that there is NO night life.

Yes, yes there is the odd Matador night..and big show..etc etc…(however aren't these only like once a year?)

but SURELY there are Greek parties i.e. sorority and fraternity parties?

Also, I saw a video of a CSUN pool party? does this happen often? are there pool parties at both the apartments and dorms - for everyone to join in on?

PLEASE REASSURE ME THAT THERE IS PARTIES, FUN, SOCIAL LIFE, AND THAT THERE ARE MANY CHANCES TO MEET NEW PEOPLE AT NIGHT???!

There are always parties going on in the dorms, you just have the know the right people. And Matador Nights happens twice a year. No, pool parties don’t happen often, like sometimes the RAs will host a pool party but that doesn’t happen often. And please stop posting in CAPS it makes me feel like you’re yelling.

Sorry about the caps - I forgot to take it off and then couldn’t be bothered to change it! Haha

Oh that’s pretty cool then! I will be living the UP Apartments….will I still be able to attend the parties in the dorms and things? I presume as long as you have friends living in the dorms, you can go to any you like? Do you know if people ever have apartment parties?

I just keep reading everywhere that CSUN is boring - but from where I come from, where it is literally dead, I can’t believe that north ridge is THAT bad! There seems to be loads of stuff now and again - carnival, up all night, matador nights, big show, random dorm parties etc

Also, I have read that fraternity and sorority parties are pretty good? Is this a regular thing?

I really like CSUN and I will be attending this Fall. However, I just want to be rest assured that I will still also have some fun. I mean, I am not looking for somewhere like UCSB where it is all about (what I’ve heard) smoking, drinking, sex…etc, but I do enjoy parties, going out dancing, meeting new people etc…you know - usual teenage stuff - just not to the EXTREMES of other places.

In addition, (sorry so many questions), what are people like at CSUN for spring break? Do CSUN students go to fort lauderdale for spring break? I would love to do that!!! I hope people at CSUN aren’t all quiet and boring!! (what everyone keeps posting!)

BTW, thanks so much for taking the time to post your responses, I really appreciate it! It’s great to hear from someone who knows a bit of information. Do you already attend CSUN? or just knowledge from other people?

I’m not sure. I’m not the partying type, but my roommates had the opportunity to go to a few of the greek parties. During break most people leave school, unless they decide to work on Campus for the break.

Hey- I like to update you with some info on CSUN to smileandbehappy. CSUN is a great university to attend, yes the school does provide “The Big Show” and " Matador Night" twice year. Both events are a lot of fun! and there both a great ways to meet new people, different people are like genres the party people are there and those who aren’t are as well. Oh I forgot to mention, “Meet The Clubs” the first week of the semester is also a great way to meet fun and interesting people. After that it really depends on how much a student networks and wants to get involved with the campus.

Every individual tackles the college atmosphere with different perspectives. Of coarse, you can’t compare the ngihtlife at CSUN with the nightlife at UCSB, but its all about what you make out of it and who you know. There is always something going on the weekends. It could vary from Frat/ Sorority parties to small kickback; I have heard that dorm kickbacks are fun, but get rolled around midnight by campus police from experience. That is why there are also off campus apartment kickbacks that have way less restriction. Its always fun to sit around play some card drinking games with a group of people.

College has different paths based on individuals interest. If you want to have a social/party experience at college you will as long as you meet the right people. But on contrast, those who choose not to engage in parties also find a great experience at college. Lets keep note: I take my studies very serious and always look for ways to further my degree field by taking on internships, but hey who doesn’t enjoy a cold one once in a while :).

If you +21 you will have more options to choose from, and if your not, I already mentioned alternative options. Los Angeles is a short drive away, so the nightlife there is amazing. I have been on a couple of Party buses that take us to clubs in LA and drive us back to Northridge beats driving lol.

Well anyways that all for now, make sure to enjoy your time at CSUN both academically and socially.
