U of M Studemts, how would you rate the campus life? What are common actinides that students take part in. And lastly, is it still possible to "fit in" with a lot of students without drinking (underage)?

I know it's a broad question

I know it's a broad question

Good questions, I’m curious about the answers to these as well.

*activities
-sorry for the typo, i was on my ipad

Where to start. How do you quantify or define campus life in a university that has:

26,000 undergraduate students, 10,000 of which come from OOS and 1,500 are international)

15,000 graduate students

6,000 faculty

Over 200 majors and concentrations, ranging from the traditional disciplines such as the Classics, Philosophy and Mathematics to Business and from Engineering to Nursing.

Over 1,000 student clubs and organizations

15% of undergrads belonging to the Greek system

A generally tolerent and open minded campus culture

Excellent athletic tradition

Excellent performing arts tradition

etc…

In short, anybody can find her/his niche and fit in happily at the University.

But here are a few things to keep in mind:

Michigan students tend to be laid back and down to earth

The campus is very lively and spirited, with many things to do

Michigan is NOT a party school. Drinking is obviously common, but many students (like myself) have a great time without drinking

Ann Arbor is an AWESOME college town.

Thanks again alexandre. I guess any view would be like a stereotype, but I was just wondering about common activities on campus. Also, thanksnfor letting me know it isn’t a big party school, as I have heard some stories about crazy parties from friends, so I’m glad to know there is a dry side to the student body.

Dry Side = North Campus haha

I just got back from campus day, and as a NJ resident i loved it. Ann Arbor is exactly what people call it: quintessential, and the campus is so diverse. The buildings are cool in their own way, depending which part of the school you go to, and each time you go into one of them it’s a different scene with different people doing different things. It makes you feel like your always doing something somewhere. The people i saw were not like the stereotype jock or anything, although there were some, more average looking laid back “liberal” people. And although it shouldn’t be a factor, knowing that the school is famous and that the city is supposed to be great, helps. Great place to grow up and mature a bit, seems like everything is there for you. Just like how CC is a great place to jot down some mental notes and put thoughts into writing.

^did u visit an engr 100 class?

^Obviously not Engr 100-200, else he’d say “These students look depressed”
