let me say that those words are the only words i remember in my 3 years worth of spanish classes – besides queso.

QVO, Comparitive Literature? Right on! I considered that as well, because you won’t be limited to British or American Literature. As for me I would like to focus on American Literature (from Twain on). Also, I would love it if I’m able to get into the Creative Writing emphasis.

If I was fortunate to be accepted to both Berkeley and UCLA it would be such a difficult decision, as I live 15 minutes from UCLA. In the end, Berkeley is Berkeley and would be hard to pass up.

What about you?

I speak fluent Spanish, so my repertoire is expansive. “QVO” means “what’s up” in an Chicano gangster tongue.

Justin,

English with American Literature concentration has crossed my mind many times.

And yeah, that’s why I posted this query, but not just between UCLA and Berkeley–all of the schools! UCLA was my first choice when I decided to return to school. I don’t know why, it just seemed the most logical and challenging. Now, I’m taking my learning and productivity style into more consideration than before. I’m still thinking a lot about UCLA, but can’t say for sure just yet.

I am totally in the older student boat. I will be 25 when I transfer, but I try not to take age into account. I am not a big party person. If I party it’s my boyfriend and I and 2 bottles of wine, so I am into somewhere with less of a party atmosphere. I got into UCSB, but besides the distance for me (I’m in the Inland Empire), the party scene is just too much for me. I am more interested in the academics and the clubs. I am in at UCI as well and I have made up my mind to go there come fall if UCLA doesn’t pan out. I have a couple clubs I looked into and I want to join the novice crew. I am looking forward to making some friends in my program, and since it’s probably going to be pretty small, I assume that won’t be too hard.

I am the same way. What kind of wine?

I’m more of a slower pace of life kind of person. Not that I don’t or can’t keep up with my studies; I know the pace will increase in that respect, but I like a calmer more urban setting. That’s why I applied to UC Santa Cruz. Seems to be a great area with the trees, hills, and just general natural spaciousness. I think about that and think how crammed LA is. I also don’t know how much of a ‘party school’ UCSC is either.

Yea I totally feel you. As much as I love the urban setting, I really like quiet more nature-y settings so UCSC was really a strong school for me for a long time. Then my life changed quickly down here in so cal and I just decided not to apply there. I think I could do LA for a couple of years either living or commuting but UCI has the appeal because of the ocean.
As for wine, seriously anything that is under $5, haha. We are both super broke all the time and get two buck chuck, but we have been getting fancier with the Fisheye brand. I know. It’s sad. There is a brand called Menage A Trois that is AMAZING but I only drink when my friend picks it up for us. I don’t have a palate. I also eat canned beans for dinner and drink PBR.
