Campus Village- Voluntary meal plan?

I was offered my number one Campus Village. I was thinking to buy a small meal plan in case I don't want to cook/too busy/lazy to cook all the time lol. But I was wondering I should just buy flexidine dollars instead because they can be used at the on campus food places right?
Can someone please explain what exactly flexidine dollars are? and do you recommend a meal plan or flexi$$?
Thanks

Think of flexdine as a checking account, and your student id as the debit card. I would probably just get the meal plan.

Costs a lot more if you use flexdine. Not sure if it’s 1-1 ratio between dollars and flexdine dollars, but yeah, it’s about 6 dollars for meal or around that I think if you use a meal plan, and if you don’t, it’s 7 dollars for breakfast, 9 for lunch, and 11 for dinner.

Wow Lunch and Dinner are kinda expensive. Id be content with In N Out and Lee’s Sandwich right across campus over the bridge! Plus they have lots of other eateries there to! Cheap and tasty :]

I know I run the risk of sparking a debate here but…Lee’s Sandwich is owned by a communist.

who cares they make good sandwiches.

Yeah I was wondering about meal plan as well. Sister told me to get it because i will be really busy? But looking at the rates ~$6 a meal is kinda expensive. Id be fine living off of tuna sandwiches and cereal after all it got me in decent shape. Although it was a hassle to make these sandwiches at times even at high school. Is it advised? for someone who can’t make anything edible but sandwiches?

wouldn’t eating tuna sandwiches all the time kinda get old/boring?

Try an occasional Cup RAMEN to throw some variety in your diet… and maybe treat urself to some hot pockets haha.

it does get boring, i dread eating my tuna sandwiches lol. Which is why im considering the meal plan. But all you can eat is scary, im the type that when theres a bag of chips, i’d finish the whole bag in one go, idk how girls can just save it and wrap it without being tempted to eat it. Its not easy losing 15 pounds in college lol.

Haha, my friend said that she would just lose the 15 pounds now so that later, with the freshman 15, it wouldn’t be too bad.

If you’re asian.

If you get a meal plan while living in Mesa Court or Middle Earth then it is included, however, a voluntary meal plan will cost you ~8-10 a swipe anyways. A swipe is one entrance into the buffet.

If you are living in CV to save you money then just make your own food. You’ll have a kitchen to use and I suggest you take the time to learn how to cook. It’s cheaper and a lot healthier. Plus, you can always get a friend to swipe you in for the occasional buffet run.

I enjoyed having the meal plan as a freshman but I didn’t realize how much it was actually costing me.

Are there cafeteria meal plans that serve as alternatives to the buffet?

I would learn how to cook simple foods and try not to buy anything on campus. Everything is ridiculously overpriced. If you got a mealplan you could try smuggling tupperware and taking some of the food back to your place, but you’d have to be somewhat discreet about it.

“smuggling tupperware”
Lol! My mom put cookies from hometown buffet in her purse before hehe

Emphasis on the somewhat, I’d hope. It’s pretty easy to do it, honestly. If you have a backpack put it in there, done deal. And you’re good to go.
