Transfer housing

Hey, for those of you already at UCI, what's your opinion on Campus Village and Arroyo Vista housing? And also, is it worth it to buy a dining plan, or would I be better off just paying for meals individually? Er, I guess this is more for if I go for the Campus Village, since it has a nice little kitchen and all that.

I'm not a student yet, but I've already made some of my decisions.

I'm going for Campus Village. I like the idea of having apartment-style housing, and it's very close too all the facilities I'll be needing.

Arroyo Vista is too far for my taste. The only advantage I would personally have there is that it's right next to the gym.

As for meal plans, I definitely think it's worth it. I'll probably be going for te 10-meal/week plan, 14-meal if I really must. I've already eaten at Mesa Commons when I visited a friend, and I'm really impressed with the food UCI has to offer. Mesa's apparently not even the 'best' cafeteria at UCI either! It's basically an all-you-can-eat buffet for the price of about $6 per meal. When I was there I saw a large soup+salad bar, nachos, ice cream, smoothies, pizza, grilled burgers, and the typical specialties of the day. I loved it. If you're unsure about what you want, you could always get some ZotBucks and see how much you would eat and enjoy campus dining. Then you could upgrade to a traditional meal plan.

As for actual student reviews on UCI housing, anteaterforum.com is probably a good resource to search and/or ask.

Good luck...And hey, I noticed that you're from San Diego too! :D

Ah, that's true. Just looked at the map to see how far away they are. CV looks like it's REALLY close to campus.

Well, the thing with the meal plan is, unless I actually use all of the meals that I get with the plan, I think it might actually be cheaper to just buy them individually. I dunno. the 10 a week plan sounds like a good idea, though. If anything, I'd probably go get dinner so I don't have to worry about figuring out how to cook something for dinner =P

Yeah, I'm from up in the boonies of north county =P Where in San Diego are you from?

Thanks =)

Hehe, I live all the way down south in National City. Consider CV! Would be nice to know another anteater transfer from SD.

Yeah, I was already leaning towards CV, but was just wondering what other people had to say.

go with a meal plan. cooking most nights takes too much time and eating out cost much more. plus no dishes to wash. haha

Haha, totally forgot about dishes. Yeah, I suppose buying a meal plan will probably be a good idea.
