<p>I am taking my son to Claremont for campus visits. I have never been there so it's hard to get an idea. Are there hotels near campus at a walking distance? Can I get by without renting a car?</p>

<p>yeah but its not that short of a walk if i remember correctly. i recommend a car (im from the claremont area) its by far the easiest way to get around in southern california. if you fly into LAX you can take the metro to claremont but its going to be one hell of a walk to the double tree.</p>
