Can a college rescind/revoke admission AFTER the student enrolled?

My friend's ACT score WILL be cancelled in March, but he got into his number one school and sent his deposit already. So when his ACT cancels his score, will the college revoke admission? THANKS

Why will the score be cancelled?

if the college accepted him without the ACT scores, i don’t think that they will revoke the admission offer. unless the offer was conditional and the ACT scores are the condition…

He should ask the college.

THe answer to your question is YES. Colleges retain the right to rescind accepted students, expel current students, and retroactively cancel degrees of graduates – if there is cause.

Are you sure it’s your “friend” that will have his score canceled?

Here’s a post you made in November and edited in December:

And here’s a post that you made on January 1:

In both of those threads, plus another one, you were given useful advice about how to proceed. You received the letter from ACT in November laying out your options.

What did you decide to do?

Of course they can rescind you. You were accused of cheating and chose not to do anything to defend yourself, apparently. You should have retaken the ACT even though your applications were already sent in and you were expecting responses “very soon”. That way you could have proven that you were capable of getting the higher (now cancelled) score, when the colleges became concerned about the cancellation. Questions about academic dishonesty, especially when unchallenged, would be enough for the schools to rescind acceptances.

Don’t blame the testing organization. You have only yourself to blame.

They will return your deposit and rescind the offer.

When a score gets cancelled months after taking, does ACT contact all the schools where the test was sent?

As for the similar answers to another nearby student…that suggest that your “missed answers” were the same as that other person’s. Why did you not fight this? Was that other person’s test cancelled as well. Was he accused of helping you?

Why didn’t you do anything about this?
