Hi,
I am currently a senior. I really want a full-ride college scholarship, but I don’t think I have the credentials other kids have. Here is the breakdown:
- I have a 27 ACT
- I have about a 3.6 GPA (around 4.4 weighted)
- I am not really involved in my school I am not in any clubs or honors societies
- I have not taken an AP class but I have and will take a couple college classes (which count as AP credit)
- I have done a lot of community service
- I am captain on my varsity soccer team
- I will be getting eagle scout soon
- I have great character
Is this good enough to receive that elusive full ride scholarship whether in-state or out-of-state? (I currently live in Ohio). Thanks for reading and I appreciate all the responses!
I’m not aware of full rides for those stats.
Let’s talk about other ways of paying for college.
Do you need a full ride because you come from a low income background, because your family will not support your going to college, because of bad luck like high medical bills?
Have you run an EFC estimator such as this one?

Full rides are very very rare.
I think FAMU has some for these stats. It’s a HBCU in Florida.
Are you retaking the ACT? Even full tuition at Ohio U requires a 28.
The questions above are very important:
Do you need a full ride because you’re low income, because your parents won’t pay even though they make 150k a year, …?
Do you know your EFC?
Have you run the NPC on a variety of colleges?
(Suggestions with varying academic levels for your stats: Hiram, Denison, tOSU, Ohio U, UCincinnati.)
