Can a local sorority look just as good as a national one in a resume?

I’m a freshman at my college and this semester I decided to join sorority recruitment. I received 4 bids in total (2 locals and 2 nationals), and I am tempted to go for a local because they seemed the most fun of them all. However, I am also hesitant about joining because I wouldn’t have the networking a national one offers nor is it as prestigious. My question: can a local sorority look just as good as a national one? Whichever I end up joining, I plan on being very involved to stand out as much as I can, but I do worry that I would be wasting my money if a local one doesn’t bring me as many benefits as a national.

As far as a resume goes I don’t think it will matter. I would go where you feel at home. Some employers don’t like Greek life, some love it. Just take a leadership role if you desire and that will be good. Local vs. national shouldn’t matter. My son is President of his fraternity (national) and it is a lot of work! He spent his entire spring break preparing for a national evaluation that is being held this week. If you want to be in leadership local may be a little less work on top of school! Yes he has some great networking but you can get that in other areas, clubs in your major etc. Some local groups have great networking too!

Go where you are happiest! Congratulations on your bids.
