Can all USC students take all classes offered at all USC schools?

Just in case the question is unclear…can an undeclared student in Dornsife take classes in Marshall, Viterbi, etc.? Or is that student limited to just Dornsife classes?

I’m sure that many of you know the answer to this. Thank you.

Yes, but they cap the # of classes. Example: a non-Viterbi student can take up to 4 Viterbi classes. Probably because w/out a cap anyone not admitted to engineering could get an eng degree.

Not only is there the four class cap but a lot of courses have pre-reqs or co-reqs. Also some colleges require D-clearance (departmental) first. That’s the case with most Cinematic Arts courses for example. The department approves those who have a major in that area first, then those with a minor. If you have neither then you may get shut out due to the class already meeting its max student quota.

@gamergal27 is correct, plus a lot of the sciences/math/engineering and business classes require D clearance as well, thank goodness so students in the majors/minors can get their classes!
