Can an undergrad have a major in the school of professional advancement?

My DD is researching colleges and is interested in the digital design program offered through the School of Professional Advancement (SOPA) at Tulane.

I read that the SOPA programs are designed primarily for working adults seeking additional education, but then It looks like “traditional” undergrads may be able to choose a major from that school, but might have to transfer out of Newcomb and into SOPA. I also read on some older posts that many of the classes offered through SOPA are evenings and weekends or online and are located at a satellite campus.

Does anyone have any insight into this? If she has to transfer out of Newcomb and into SOPA would she loose any real connection to the main campus, campus life, etc? She likes the sound of the program but not necessarily at the expense of a connection to the main campus experience.

I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to that. I do know that when my D was planning her schedule there were a few classes that were only open to SOPA students at first then would open to undergrads if there was any space left after a certain date. She planned her schedule around those so we never went back to see if they filled up before the undergrads had a chance to join.

If nobody here knows the answer have your D email her admissions rep or a professor in the department to ask. It can’t hurt and Tulane loves when you show interest. My D emailed with a professor about sitting in on a class and mentioned how nice she was in her Why Tulane essay - figured any specific information in that essay was good!
