Question with Intended Major

I'm filling out the app and my intended major is Public Relations. It appears that at Tulane this major is located at the School of Continuing Studies and it is Part-Time. How would this work out? Do undergrads take this route? If I get in with Public Relations as a major, how easy is it to switch to communications or something else? Any advice?
Thanks

Also, I will be an undergrad and I’m filling out the freshman application. I looked it up and it says the School Of Continuing Studies has an “Open Admissions Policy” with no ACT Score and you have to fill out a one page app online. I’m a little confused now…

Undergrads do not usually go through Continuing Education. As far as I know It is a part time program and most classes I imagine will be held during the evening and weekends. You are not considered a matriculating student, are not considered for the scholarships, and do not dorm. You are not part of the freshman class. It’s not the route you want to take as an incoming freshman.

@5melissa1234‌ - @dolphnlvr6‌ is correct, you will not be applying to the SCS, you will apply to Newcomb-Tulane College, which is the umbrella for the 5 undergrad schools: Architecture, Business, Science & Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Public Health/Tropical Medicine. The SCS is separate from this. However, you are allowed to take courses taught through the SCS and count them towards your degree. There are some limitations, but for taking a few courses in PR you shouldn’t have any issues I don’t think. But you wouldn’t be in a degree program for that. Most likely you would just start out as a Communications Major (http://tulane.edu/advising/upload/COMM-14-BU.pdf</a>) and I strongly suspect you could use some of those PR courses as electives towards that major. An advisor in the Communications Department could tell you for sure. Don’t be shy about contacting them even now, as a prospective student.

It is probably best if I put Communications or Undecided as a prospective major then. I will make sure to email. Thanks !
