I took the act today and in the middle of the third passage the five minutes left was called, can anyone actually thoroughly read and answer all the questions?

I had the same thing, i couldn’t finish my last passage and i had to randomly guess the last few answers :(

Yes, and many do. The key is to know what information you are looking for as you read; look at the questions beforehand.

Yes, I always finish with time to spare. I’m an extremely fast reader though. If you plan on taking it again in more than six months, you can work on improving your reading speed and comprehension. Trust me, it helps. If you have more specific questions you can ask me! ^-^

thanks i finish every section but the reading, i end up having to fill in 5 random answers, i am probably just overthinking some questions and paying too much attention to the reading

Yes but we all have our strengths and weaknesses, for example, I can finish reading with time to spare but struggle on the math!

Maybe so! Remember that for the ACT, the shorter answer is generally correct if you’re unsure. (This also applies to the English section just FYI). And I agree with the above poster–I can never finish the math section in time!

my problem is I got a 28 in english 30 in math 31 in science and 24 in reading! i just dont feel like i have enough time to do well!

Have you tried the SAT? The questions, in my opinion, are trickier, but you do have more time on the sections. Your science score is actually really good, especially for someone who says he feels he doesn’t have enough time. Usually it seems that section is the real time killer. I would just try doing as many practice tests as possible then. After you get used to the format and timing, I think you could do really well.

I generally finish and have a few minutes left to go back and check my answers. However, I’ve taught myself to speed read and read recreationally for at least 45 minutes a day. if you’re having trouble with this section, I’d recommend you buy some more act prep books and study specifically for this section. Perhaps do some SAT reading rep as well (considering how much more sat prep material is available). Aso, I recommend you start finding difficult literature and train yourself (with time constraints) to read faster.

I got a 36 on the June ACT reading section. I didn’t think this september ACT reading section was too bad, but I guess I’m just good at it. That being said, I got a 29 on the June ACT math and I thought it was really hard, but I think I did better this time around. So I guess we’re all good at some things and bad at others :)
