First of all, I'd really like to know just how many students get the scholarship and how much does the avg recipient receive? Are there certain stats for who receives the scholarship like GPA and such? Does everyone who applied get an interview, or does this mean that my application was taken to the next round or whatever it may be called? Also, I just got a call today to schedule an interview for this saturday but I had a conflict, and was told that my interview would be scheduled on a weekday next week. I'd really love to know what kind of questions they ask? By that I mean anything special besides the typical why do you deserve this money, what are your goals, etc. For instance, do they ask about what dorm your staying in and such since this scholarship is specifically for UT Austin. Are they going to ask whether or not you've received any scholarships or if you've applied to anymore? If they ask this question would it be better to say only a few? I ask b/c they wanted this information in the application. Really besides, why I would deserve the scholarship I don't know anything else they'd need to ask, as my career goals, background, grades, extracurriculars, and even the dorm I want to stay in are all in my application.

My son went to a Dedman /Texas Exes scholarship weekend. He interviewed for the Dedman scholarship and some of the students there were interviewing for the Texas Exes scholarship. I believe the Texas Exes scholarship interview was set up the same way as the Dedmn. There were 5 profs. conducting the interview. They did not ask about dorms. In fact, I think most of the students don't know yet what dorm they will be staying in. They did not ask about outside scholarships. They asked questions related to my son's essays and his major. Mostly academic questions, I think.
