Thanks so much.
Its going to depend on the major, and class level, I think. CU professors may change rooms and increase class sizes if there is a lot of demand. Also many freshman classes are way larger than most upper division classes. The living and learning communities at CU offer very small class sizes. This would be one class per semester at most though. There are many of those and again my major, although by now these living arrangements may all be filled up. These are housing groups where professors live in the house and teach classes to the residents of that house. CU Boulder does not have the huge class sizes of a Michigan State sized public program, for instance.
Arts and Sciences is the biggest college at CU. Leeds College of Business has a higher GPA/ACT to get admitted. There are always Arts and Sciences students applying to get into Leeds. Some students straddle two colleges and double major.
@coloradomama Thank you:) So would you say many freshman classes have around 100 students in a lecture hall? Is that typical?
you could have a freshman lecture hall with 500 or 100, it really depends. You will also have classes your freshman year with like 12 people, albeit in the general ed’s. As you move into your sophomore / junior year, seminar classes in A&S’s become widely available while maybe requiring you to be 1 or 2 big lecture hall class. In my experience, it has been great to have a mix of classes where I can engage in a seminar style and then walk over to my next class in Math 100, one of our largest lecture halls. You can, however, pretty much customize your experience here.
