Hello

I'm new to the forums, and I am currently a student finishing up my freshman year at WVU.

Basically, coming out of high school I was set on WVU. I thought it would be a bargain (im out of state) and it would give me a great college experience at the same time. I was also under the false impression that it did not matter as much where you got your undergrad from; it was grad-school that made the difference as to career opportunities.

As the year comes to an end, I can say that I am thoroughly dissapointed with the school and the city of Morgantown. The people here (the vast majority of the ones I met) are immature and rude, and could care less about their studies or their future. The only things to do on the weekend here seem to be either drink or sit and play video games in the dorm. The party reputation this school has is 100% false: there are minimal house parties or large events; most people go to the numerous nightclubs that this school has a reputation for, which I do not consider "parties." They arent fun in the slightest. The campus is trashy looking and unkept, and all the money goes to the engineering department, and I am a business major. The weather is like seattle one day, and like georgia the next.

As I signed the lease on an apartment for the upcoming year, I am sort of stuck here for the year. I plan to transfer after my sophomore year unless this school changes dramatically.

As of now, my top 3 colleges of interest are UVA, UNC chapel hill, and Uconn. Academically, any of those would be a tremendous upgrade.

My high school performance was average at best: a 3.39 GPA, and 1700 SAT score. However, I applied myself much more in college and got a 4.0 my first semester here, and will probably get at least a 3.5 this semester, bringing my cumulative college GPA to a 3.75.

I know the 3 schools I listed are hard schools to get into. I really hope my college GPA helps my consideration. How would you assess my chances of getting into any of these 3 schools?
