Can anyone who lives in the North Residential District comment on housing and dining options?

There are a couple of towers on North Campus and from Google Maps they cast shadows on the surrouding buildings including the new dorms. Are the rooms dark because of this? I would tink that would be depressing during the winter. How far is the closest dining hall or food court and how difficult is it to eat during busy times? Are the dining facilities always busy? Whats the scoop with the Traditional Visit Exchanges for dining and are they a good option? Can you get anything decent to eat with a $5 exchange?

I don’t live on North but I’m there often. No the rooms aren’t dark, they’re all new and the lighting is pretty well done. I’ve been in a lot of different rooms at a lot of different times and I’ve never felt like anything was depressing. MUCH better than West campus haha. The closest dining halls are Curl Market and Scott Traditions. Both are actually pretty good and are known as two of the best places to eat on campus. It’s easy to eat during busy times but considering they’re adding a lot of dorms to North, not sure how that’ll be next year. Curl and Scott are prolly 2 and 4 minutes of walks respectively away from the North Complex.

Traditions exchanges are at Scott and it’s basically you swipe in and its all-you-can-eat. You can even bring your backpack and do homework while in there. So good option. Curl Market has VX’s where you get an entree (build your own pasta, burrito, wraps…some others too i believe) and a fruit and a drink from a coke freestyle machine for a swipe. there’s a decent sized seating area or you can just take it back to your dorm. Most places on campus do the entree+fruit+drink thing and it’s actually a decent deal. With the $5 exchanges you’re wasting a little bit of money but it is pretty convenient when getting a $4.45 coffee and you’ve got extra swipes left.

Any other questions?
