We’re headed to the WV panhandle in a few weeks to ‘househunt’ for a possible move there. We’re coming from NJ, and know nothing about the area. I was hoping that someone could give me a rundown of where to look? We’ll have two kids in high school, so need a decent school district. So far, we’re looking at Falling Waters, Martinsburg, Charles Town, and Shepardstown. Anywhere we should avoid?
TIA!
I don’t know much about the area, but I have hear that some places in WV are offering each individual (or maybe each adult) $10,000 if they live there for a year.

I don’t know much about West Virginia, other than driving through it on the way to Philadelphia about 35 years ago. I remember it was fall and the colors were gorgeous. I also know that it’s not a particularly wealthy state. I’ve only met one person from West Virginia, my H’s former boss. He went to college on a scholarship and was the first person in his family to go to college. The rest of his family and most of his classmates, went to work in the coal mines after graduation from high school…

suggest posting on reddit. they were hugely helpful to me over the years. i spent time in the WVU and morgantown subs - recommend them, of course - but there’s also:
