Can AP Physics 1 score replace SAT 2 score for top colleges ?

Hello,

My son took AP Physics 1 test and also SAT 2 physics test. I am curious if top colleges need to see both or one good score out of the two tests ?

With respect to college admissions, SAT Subject Test scores are considered in the evaluation of the applicant whereas AP exam scores, while indeed an unspoken benefit if they are high, serve no real purpose in the college admissions process other than to provide another means by which academic aptitude can be demonstrated to the admissions committee and are not strongly encouraged to be submitted with the rest of the application, though many students submit them anyways. AP exam scores are used to determine if a student is able to exempt introductory-level college classes.

The student took AP Physics 1 course which is half of what SAT 2 physics exam had.

The AP Physics 1 Exam tests introductory college-level physics knowledge while SAT Physics mainly tests on high school physics. They are different tests and test different things so they cannot replace one another.
