im wondering if AP exams can be written by first year college students and not just simply restricted to high school students cause the SAT I/II can be written by both college/high school students.

Well I don't think the test itself is restricted to high school students only, especially since you can study for them on your own, but the matter of whether they're applicable to anything (such as credits) may be a different matter altogether.

Don't college students use the CLEP?

"By taking CLEP exams I am way ahead in my coursework and that gives me a lot of options over the next couple of years. Plus, I saved money. I earned six units of credit for two exams and saved over $1,500 in tuition costs. I plan on taking more CLEP exams this year so I can keep moving ahead in my education."

"I am a huge fan of CLEP. The five exams that I took helped me finish my associate's degree in six months and save over $1,200 in tuition costs. Now, I am working on completing my bachelor's degree and on my way to a master's program. I would not be where I am today without CLEP."

"When I returned to college after working in California for several years, I no longer met in-state residency requirements, and my tuition increased dramatically. I needed a way to speed up my education and bring down tuition costs. CLEP was the solution! I took 5 CLEP exams and earned 21 units of basic credit, allowing me to concentrate instead on the courses specific to my major. CLEP saved me two semesters and almost $2,400 in tuition! I recommend CLEP to everyone."

I think it might be possible for college students to do AP's, but would it be applicable to credits?
