can freshman live in apartment?

living in dorm, but not really me, and was wondering if the university would let me live in an apartment off campus. if not possible this year then would definately want to as a sophmore. will fafsa also cover the living expenses?

i have 44 units in ap credit so would i be able to request a housing change to off campus?

There is no requirement to live on campus at any point. It is strongly recommended you live on campus your first year, but no one will force you to do so. Another option is to apply for Kresge college because they have only apartments and no standard dorms.

To add to what kewkiekid said (which was all correct):

FAFSA does not give you any money. It is merely a calculation of your estimated family contribution. What you mean is Financial Aid monies.

Financial Aid monies (if they are not specifically ear marked for some other thing such as system wide fees) can be used for off campus living. However, the COA of living off campus is lower than living on campus and your Financial Aid offer would be adjusted accordingly.

Housing contracts are difficult to break without good reason.
