Can I afford a CSU? (Long Beach or San Diego State)

Hello, how much aid would I receive from a CSU? (CSU-LB or SDSU)

I am applying from out-of-state, my family makes about 20K/year, my GPA is 3.6/4.1, and my SAT is 2080 though I will retake aiming for 2250+

Combining need-based and merit aid, how much in loans am I looking at? Could I get a full ride or something near it? I don't know their policies on aid for OOS, especially during these budget cuts.

Thanks

All you would get is the Federal stuff–Pell Grant, work study and loans. With a maximum Pell, it would still cost you about $20K/yr, some of which would be the subsidized loan and work study.

Thanks. Based on that, I’m guessing I wouldn’t be able to afford CSU. I’d rather go to 'Bama on a scholarship

Don’t sell yourself short. I hope you’re applying to those schools that don’t charge you to attend if your family makes less than a certain amount per year, that or applying to schools that meet 100 percent of your need and who have large endowments. Being low income and having stats like the ones you do is an accomplishment.

OP was asking specifically about the CSUs. HMom told him the truth. OP has also been looking at other schools (from his other threads).

yeah liek0806 thanks for the advice but don’t worry, I’m applying to many top reach schools, to which I would probably go for free if any of them accepted me.
