Can I afford to drop French?

Hi everyone,

This is my first thread so I'm sorry if I've put it in the wrong spot or something...
Here's a description of my academic and extra-curricular life: I go to an ISL boarding school in Massachusetts where I am the co-president of the Multicultural Student Association, an officer in admissions touring, on the school newspaper, and I lead the group that organizes pep-rallies/cheering sections at games. In terms of academics, my strong point is easily History and English. This is my second junior year (I chose to repeat it because my sophomore year was brutal academically but I had a stellar junior year, so basically two great junior years would cancel out a horrible sophomore one): I'm taking a senior Shakespeare elective for English, a journalism class for the school newspaper, History of the Middle East, History of Race in America, Algebra 2, and French IV. To be blunt, I hate math and French is a close second. I could drop French because my school requires only three years of a foreign language, and I really want to for two reasons: 1.) My schedule is really full right now with giving tours, classes, and extracurriculars 2.) I simply don't like the subject.

Do you think I can afford to drop French? Thanks...

What the fux dude, so basically, you volunteered to take 5 years of high school?

haha basically

I would stick with french one more year and then not take French 5. (I know it sucks- i am doing the same thing). And by the way you sound exactly like me, schedule and academic-wise. I hate math with French as a close second too! Good luck!

You realize that high school is just a tiny part of your life, and you just wasted a whole year of your life…

High school won’t matter once you’ve gotten into college…

You don’t need to waste a whole fuxing year of your life to get into a better college, all colleges are nearly the same

High school is a tiny part of my life…and one year is even tinier, which is why it will fly by. I’m perfectly convinced that my decision will be worth it.

what do you plan on majoring in? if you’re looking IR or poly sci, stay in french or switch to another language. if not, definitely drop it
