I know you apply to SLOAN after sophomore but can I put prospective major as "finance", because I plan on getting a degree in business?

Well, first, I would put "management" since that happens to be the name of the major.

Second, put whatever you want on that little line, because it won't make it any easier or any more difficult to get into MIT.

Third, you don't really have to "apply" to Sloan per se. You just declare Management as your major at the end of freshman year; there is a lottery system for classes, but it's to make sure classes aren't oversubscribed.

Yea, the Sloan School of Management has one undergraduate degree (Management Science) with several concentrations of which you choose one - finance, marketing and information systems. When you apply to MIT, you are compared to everyone at the Institute.... decisions for majors doesn't come til after freshman year.

ok cool thnx everyone and mootmom
