Hi, I’m a student from Ukraine, currently majoring in Physics. I have completed a year of study. I want to enroll to some US college and I know I should apply as a transfer student but that implies I will continue majoring in Physics. But what if I want to change a major? Is it possible to become, for example, Computer Science freshman?
You will apply as a transfer student. you must submit all transcripts for college work that you have completed. Applying as a transfer does not imply that you will continue in the same major. Can you afford the cost of an American college?
Thanks for reply. Well, not really but I’ve found some colleges that provide coverage for almost all the expanses if your family annual income is below 65000$. And in Ukraine this is almost always the case
Those would be the elite schools: Harvard, Yale etc. Their acceptance rate for internationals is less than 5%.
The acceptance rate for international TRANSFER students is quite low.
As others have pointed out the acceptance rate for transfer students is quite poor. However, you can apply for any major that you want to apply for. Also, you can apply to schools that are easier to get into than the top elite schools.
As such if you have decent stats then you should be able to find some universities in North America with good computer science programs where you can be accepted. Finding the right school, what the school will cost, and whether you can afford it will be the main issues.
