<p>Check with the college. I have heard that at some schools, you must apply for finaid your freshman year or you are not eligible to do so in subsequent years.</p>
<p>^I have heard that but not seen it verified. Legally, a school must comply with all federal aid regulations, so even if they don't give institutional aid, they would have to process for any possible fed aid.</p>
