Can i apply for multiple majors?

Hello there , so can i apply for multiple majors? i mean can i apply for mechanical engg. and electrical engg. and get admitted into one of them

I think you can only do that for graduate school and it varies for each UC

like most of the prerequisites for different types of engg. programs are same, so i was just curious if i could apply to both electrical and mechanical engg. ( u see , the probability to get admitted increases ) :)

It would depend on the campus.

I know that UCLA lets you apply to a major, and also allows you to choose a 2nd major . However UCLA states that it cannot guarantee review of your application towards the second major, meaning that you are basically only reviewed for your first choice major.

I believe this is how it works for most UC campuses as well.

Berkeley on the other hand only allows you to apply to one major in their undergrad program.

I know UCLA lets you apply with a 2nd choice major, but I heard that is only an option if you are TAP certified.

I could be wrong though, but I would look into it.

UCLA only lets you apply for a 2nd major if you are TAP certified

What?

That’s not true. I was able to apply to a second choice major at UCLA and i wasn’t Tap certified.

so u mean i can apply for electrical engineering as my primary major and mechanical engg as secondary major, right? ( at UCLA )

Yeah i’m pretty positive you do not need TAP.

I applied as an Econ Major, with my second choice major as poli sci at UCLA.

So yeah you should be able to unless the engineering school has different admission protocols.

wait i thought u needed to be tap certified to apply for an alternative major…

^ that’s what i thought too.

hmm… guess not… damn… my counselors rly dont no anything then…

Well, you can put down an alternative major per se, but they won’t review, or look at, it. You must be TAP certified for your alternative major to be considered if you are rejected from your choice major.

And it’s true, counselors are useless. That’s why there’s College Confidential, hahaha.
