Here is the thing. I'm a first year poli sci major, and some schools on my transfer list only attract me for their Chemistry major. Can I do it? Will it be of any disadvantage? Thanks in advance.

You should probably check the school’s websites and see what they look for in transfer applicants (whether they focus more on GPA or also on major prep). Chem and poli sci are pretty different, so maybe explain in your essays (if it responds to the prompt in some way, obviously) what about their programs makes you want to switch. It really depends on the school, and also if you’ve been taking more poli sci classes or general requirements.

If you are first year then it probably is not an issue if you want to change majors. Just make sure that you take the necessary first year courses that are required for the chemistry major at your new school. You don’t want to lose a whole year.
