hey guys

i have to serve two years in the singapore armed forces before i can matriculate. i'm kinda confused by uiuc's policy on deferment for military purposes like such.

their website says "Students from countries that have a military service requirement upon completion of secondary education should not apply until that obligation has been met. We will not defer admission for these students. "

but the representatives they sent to my high schools (who were all ex-students of my high school) said that they both got deferred for military.

what do you guys make of this? is this a new rule that started only this year or what..

thanks
