i’m having an online interview with a brown alum and i’m not sure if i should ask her any questions about herself. i dont know if that would be nosy or inappropriate? i’ve been answering her questions well from the beginning and i’m tired of doing all the answering!? so should i ask her a question? like if she likes any sports or authors or something? just to break the ice?

Ask her something that relates to her experience at Brown – what she studied, what she liked best about the school, what activities she did.

I asked my interviewer about her experiences at Brown, specifically what her major was, when she graduated, etc. This led into a discussion about financial aid and where she was from and why didn’t she just go to the local school, etc. It was good conversation, though she did most of the talking (we had a phone interview because of the recent snow; neither of use wanted to drive anywhere and her schedule next week is full because the interview deadline is Feb 15).

So, ask about things related to Brown, specifically her experiences.
