Can I be a Chemical Engineer with a Chemistry degree+Engineering classes?

I would rather major in pure ‘Chemistry’ because it seems more interesting but I would also like to be a Chemical Engineer and I was wondering could I be one if I took additional engineering classes?

I heard that Chemical Engineering is just Chemistry+Mechanical Engineering, so if I minor in Mechanical Engineering would I be qualified?

wants to be a chemical engineer.
doesn’t want to major in chemical engineering.

And whoever told you that is false. Chemical engineering has very little chemistry. The core of chem e is in the kinetics, reactor design, thermodynamics, separations, and fluid dynamics classes. Neither mech e or chemistry will cover that to the degree of knowledge of chem e education would. While mech e will probably include fluids and thermo, they’ll be different than a chem e thermo class.
