Can I be accepted into colleges if I'm applying a junior transfer applicant?! HELP!!

I’m currently a Junior at community college and I’ve applied for fall admissions in multiple private schools and out of state schools (I live in California).
I just found out (literally an hour ago via a friend) that UPenn does NOT accept Junior applicants, and now I’m freaking out that all the other schools I applied to won’t accept me.
I applied to:
Cornell
Emory
NYU
Northeastern University
Northwestern University
Notre Dame
UPenn

Please, I need some advice on what to do–I’m freaking out that no one will accept me since I’m transferring as a junior applicant. I tried doing research online but so far I only found information about UPenn not accepting Junior Applicants. Can I ask to redo my Junior year at Penn?! It’s my dream school, now I’m utterly crushed. What options do I have?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you mean that you will be a junior next fall or are you a junior right now and will be a senior next term? Aren’t most community colleges only 2 year institutions? How are you a junior at a community college?

If you are applying to be a junior next fall, ALL of the schools on your list accept junior transfers including Upenn. Only Upenn’s Wharton is stringent with Junior transfers, and even then it isn’t impossible to transfer to Wharton as a junior.

If you are a junior right now and will be a senior next year, then no school will accept you unless you enter as a junior. Most schools require you to complete 4 semesters at their institution upon graduation

I’m a junior right now. God…will they really not accept junior applicants?
I’m COMPLETELY open to entering AS a junior, even though I’m a junior now.
How do I go about that? I feel absolutely sick…

No where on the college websites (except Penn) do they say that you can’t transfer if you’re above a certain class. That’s why I’m confused. where are you getting your information?

Since you’re a junior now you’d be a “senior transfer.” As far as I know the typical plan would be two years at a CC and two at a university. This may be explicit (as in Penn’s case) or seem to be implied (Cornell’s transfer guide says “They transfer as sophomores and juniors”?).

But what do you mean by repeating junior year? How many classes do you have left in your major? If you have enough classes left to spend two more years (like, you’ve gotten prereqs out of the way and that’s about it) then maybe they wouldn’t consider you a senior applicant, because in that case you’d only have completed two years of coursework in the major despite having taken three years. Or whatever. Is that the case?

Just about every 4-year college won’t accept more than 2 years of transfer courses from a community college. It is irrelevant how many credits you have taken at the CC in that case. When you transfer, you will be a Junior so just go ahead and apply.

…You can’t be a junior at a CC. It’s a two year school. You’d be transferring as a sophomore into your junior year. I

By repeating by repeating my junior year, I mean is it possible to do a junior year at the school I plan to transfer to despite being a junior now? I haven’t taken ANY major courses, only GE because I wanted to get those out of the way. Overall I have 89 credit hours (on the quarter system). I know I will lose credits when I transfer over to a semester school…I’m just unsure whether I’ll be able to get accepted into universities?

2 years of transfer courses?? I began CC during the winter of 2014, is it too late for me already??

I am a junior though. I started in Winter of 2014…At my CC you can get a bachelors so maybe that’s why? I’m confused about it myself…

What CC do you go to that gives accredited bachelors degrees?

How many units have you taken?

Also, you’ve only applied to reach schools! Do you have a hook or something? I would suggest applying to a few less selective schools while you still can.

I agree. Go ahead and apply and let them tell you no. Many kids come out of CC so they know the drill. Just remember that most schools require a certain number of credits be earned on their campus so you could be looking at a three year plan to finish up if not all of your CC courses transfer over.

The best answer you can get is to call up admissions and ask about your situation. The general rule is that transfers are students entering as sophomores or juniors, as no college will give you a degree after only completing one year at their institution. You will most likely just enter as a junior transfer and study for 2 years at said university.

I have no idea what it’s like at NYU—

89 quarter credits is like only 59 semester credits. In UC you have to have 60 to even transfer-- You’re fine. Just call admissions and tell them your credits. I think you’re very confused about the word junior

Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread! I called up the universities and they told me that I am eligible for acceptance as long as I start the term at their school as a junior. Even though I’m in my third year of CC, I’m perfectly fine. It caused a lot of panic for me but I’m glad that everything worked out in the end!

Also apply to UC’s and CSU’s since you are in CA. It’s the same deal. You start as a junior there.

No guidance counselor at your CC?
