Great, diverse ecs(won't bother wasting our time by listing them)

To be honest I'd rather not go to rutgers, everyone and there mother applies and is accepted to rutgers from my hs (we were 71/73 last year lol). I don't want to be so close to home either. BUT I need a safety..

With those stats it should be your safe school. Rutgers is a strong safe school if you don’t get into wherever you apply to, don’t fret because Rutgers is an awesome school and I can bet that you won’t see any of the people from your hs, Rutgers is HUGE!

It’s really not about “everyone and his mother” it’s about “Do I really want to go to a huge, huge school?”

I think Rutgers is a great school and the professors (for the most part) seem to care but the hugeness factor is an important point to consider.

There are the buses, scrambling to register for classes (even as an upperclassman), the ridiculous and flawed housing process, and the fact that it is just one large, huge, large, beauracracy.

mini rant alert: Don’t get me started about the advisors, either. Get prepared to hear a lot of “It’s really a personal preference” or “You should figure that out yourself”. What the truck is the advisor for. I’m not asking, just sayin. Maybe that is why there are no lines for advising services even in the middle of registration.

Everything is great…until you have a problem. Then, you are on your own. It’s a good learning experience but sometimes it’s nice when things are easier.

No I mean I am applying to plenty of big schools (U of Michigan, Georgia Tech) but idk what it is about Rutgers. I haven’t visited or anything but I just have a negative connotation attached to it.

One thing is certain I will deff be able to pay for it (instate), friends with much lower gpas have already been accepted to engineering (gpa is what’s gonna keep me out of top schools) so I am confident I can be accepted.

That’s why I want it to be a safety … Don’t really wanna go but worst comes to worst I will if I have to.

Thanks for the advice in the big school and advisors, it has been one of my major concerns. When u visit these big schools always emphasize that they will always help u…

My son currently attends, and his instructors have been very helpful during office hours. There are also tutoring resources available; that is not the problem.

You will have the most difficulty when dealing with departments such as financial aid, housing, and registration. These departments are inconsistent in their helpfulness as they are dealing with vast numbers of students.

You have to be organized and utilize the website rather than depending on a third party to answer your questions. You need to be persistent and patient. Things usually get resolved, but it does take some effort on your part.

When do you guys think I will get a decision? I applied AFTER the 11/8 EA deadline. Kids from my school who applied before 11/8 are starting to get decisions already (friend who applied 11/8 was accepted yesterday). So far no one has been denied (16/16).

Do you think the fact that I applied on 11/10 will really delay my decision…especially b/c rutgers is rolling? Or do you think I will just get a decision in a week?
