What are my chances at Yale?

Well, your GPA is strong, and your SAT scores aren't that bad, either. Extra Curriculars, likewise, are impressive, as you seem to concentrate more on a few areas, instead of spreading yourself as thin as butter across the board. However, the fact that your euroasian and fron an overrepresented state could work against you. You're essay would have to be spectacular, or you'd have to have some kind of strong hook. You're a great student, but you come across as way too similar to most everyone who applies. You have a decent shot, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

An asian with an English edge -- that could really help! Also, it really doesn't matter what your school is ranked, they don't care. It's all about you and only about you. You've got a chance. Write good essays.

yeah, Im only half asian so i guess im not than much of an anomaly...but thanks.

get your math up and show your personality through your essays and you should be good.

you should focus more upon the area of personality and try to make yourself look distinguishable from other applicants from your region (redundant... I know).. but it is worth it....

also.. get an extra letter of recommendation from them and try to attend Yale Sessions near your area... that goes in your record...so it might be to your advantage.

what are Yale sessions?

Yale sessions are sessions where admission officers along w/ a student or alumni from Yale come into your area and provide a information session about their university.

Check it out at www.yale.edu/admit

Thanks cornell, do you think that attending these sessions (for Yale or other top colleges) does give you an advantage in the admissions process?

I think for some schools attending these sessions may be an advantage, but I doubt that it is for schools as selective as Yale.
Along with writing great essays that show your personality and passions, I would suggest retaking the SAT to improve your math score. Your leadership in your ECs is very impressive, and will help a lot. It would be sad if something you could improve with a little self-study, like the math SAt, kept you from what would probably be a great school for you. Yale will look at your best scores, so you can't lose if you retake it. Good luck!
