Can I even consider Ivy Leagues?

I'm going to be a senior in high school next year, so I still have a few months to retake any tests but so far these are my scores:
SAT I:
Math: 800
CR: 680
Writing: 710
SAT II:
Physics: 800
Math II: 790
GPA (Unweighted): 4.0
GPA (Weighted): about 4.3/5.0
AP Tests:
Calc AB: 5
WHAP: 5
Calc BC/Physics B/Eng: haven't gotten back yet but should be 4/5 for all of them

I want to major in physics, so I guess I would be applying to the arts and science college. My dream schools would be Yale or Princeton. More realistically I'd like to get into UCLA or UC Berkeley.

Some of my ec's include playing the clarinet for 8 years (taking private lessons, band, orchestra, musical pitt band, county honor band 2010-2011), community service at the library (over 150 hours), national merit scholarship commended student (at least), math team member, president and founder of chess club and science club, and hours of tutoring privately and at school hw centers.

I do want to go to a college with a good physics department, but I would also really like a good undergrad program, good music program, and a decent Jewish population (btw I'm white and Jewish). I guess I really want to know if there is any chance of getting into the schools I mentioned above with my less than stellar SAT scores (low CR especially). Also if you think there are any other schools I should be looking into let me know. Thanks so much in advanced for reading all of this!

I believe you have a chance, just set yourself apart on the essays. I have a friend who is ranked 30 something in my class and he received a 2200 on his SAT, and he got accepted into Dartmouth, Stanford, and Harvard. I believe his writing was to blame for his possible acceptance as I read a couple of his essays. Again, concentrate on your writing because it gives you an identity amongst the many applications rolling with test scores and academic records which might be higher than yours.

Best of luck!

I totally agree with Jon (Snow). I’ve heard of plenty of people who have gotten in to fantastic schools pretty much only because of killer essays.

Check your school naviance. No unhooked candidates from our high school got into Yale and Princeton with those scores. If the essays matter than there should be at least one or two green dots.

Good grief, no one just gets into Ivy League schools simply on the basis of “killer essays.” What are you kids talking about??? Everything ELSE in the application has to be competitive. Essays are crucial, of course. But don’t OVER ESTIMATE the ability of “killer essays” to get you into the Ivy League, if in other ways you are not competitive. Competitive also means that your high school’s teachers and counselors, in their letters and reports, are rating you as one of the best students IN your high school class (on SOME scale, not necessarily ONLY numerically).

Of course you can apply to Ivy League schools. But your chances are maximized by putting efforts into applications for schools you actually LIKE for reasons other than status. In other words, pick an Ivy or two that you are passionately convinced is a good fit for you. And, then, come up with a SERIOUS list of matches and safety schools because your odds of getting into ANY Ivy are statistically low, given the extremely competitive nature of admissions, and the exceptionally low admit rate at all of these schools.

xxcvveve really? Look at your stats… They’re good… Of course you can apply to ivies… If the SAT score is really bugging you, retake it to get a better CR score… Not a big deal.

I will never get used to this site. lmao
