Okay so i live in Virginia and decided i wanted to go to VCU because they have a really good medical program. i was wondering if if could get a full-ride scholarship there so i can be able to save up enough to go to medical school. i am senior in HS

GPA: 4.4
SAT: 1650
*around 50hrs of community service
*played Softball all 4 yrs of hs
*In Key club(2yrs), Red Cross Club(1yr), FBLA(2yrs), and Theater Club(2yrs)

so what are my chances???

*Also if by any chance, with these stats can i get some type of big scholarship at any other of the top VA schools like UVA or Vtech?

I don’t know a thing about VCU financial aid…but your SAT scores don’t look like they would put you in the running for full tuition. Check the VCU website for their scholarships…I could very well be wrong.

UVA?? Unlikely. But again, I’m not positive. I will tell you that we know a student with combined SATs of over 2200 who did NOT get a merit scholarship from UVA.

OP…

Your post requests info about full-ride scholarships. A full-ride is everything…tuition, room, board, books, etc. Full-rides are usually only for kids with stellar stats, NMFs, etc.

Your SAT test score is equivalent to an ACT 24, which unfortunately is only in the 75 percentile…that is not high enough for “full-rides” or even “full-tuition” to any school that I can think of.

Agree with the other posters. I don’t know about VCU specifically but the 2 large State Us in my state require a combination of high SAT or ACT and GPA. For instance at my daughters school to be eligible for consideration for the scholarship she has (a full tuition scholarship plus a cash scholarship of @ $3000 - **not **a full ride) requires a 32 ACT ***and ***a minimum unweighted 3.75 GPA. Even then it is not automatic as they have limited number. A slightly higher ACT (a weird # - 133 composite of all subscores so a 33.25) guarantees a full tuition waiver for instate students plus a slightly higher cash scholarship (still not a full ride). The highest scholarship there is the NMF one which is a full ride.

A 1650 or 24 ACT would not get you much at the State Us here.
