A school I am very interested in only has a BS in business with an emphasis in accounting. The business school is accredited and has several upper level accounting courses. I am worried that because I can't say I have a BS in accounting, my job prospects (particularly with the Big 4) will be limited. Am I overreacting or will this be a potential problem?

My school is the same way. The Big 4 recruit at my school and they know how the major works here. Just make sure you fulfill the CPA requirements through your accounting coursework and you should be fine!

Just take all the accounting classes that they offer, and highlight this accounting emphasis on your resume and you should be fine (assuming your grades are good). Of course getting accounting internships would go a long way as well. Internships provide real work experience that can make a huge difference, especially in this job market.

I agree with bob1188 - internships are extremely important.
