okay it's either i get an apartment or live at home....someone please tell me it's possible? (i'm planning on splitting with one or two friends, they are also freshmen as well). i looked up apartments already on the rutgers site and it didn't mention any restrictions... also, i'm confused about utilites. a lot of aparment listings said, "utilities included: none" so on avg, how much would i/we pay for that?

you cannot get rutgers apartments as a freshman. if u want an apartment, you will have to get an off campus apartment, not affiliated with rutgrers. also, if u were accepted to the honors college, they offer freshman to stay in suites, which u share with 4-5 people. hope this helps.

yup. prepared to dorm off campus. isn't it cheaper than dorming? if not, what's the monetary difference?

It might be a little cheaper, but its much more of a hassle. And, you won't be interacting with nearly as many people. But then again, if you don't like people...

I dorm off-campus , right next to the Hyatt. There is an apartment complex that is about a 5-8 minute walk to College Avenue and 10 minute walk to Cook/Douglass. It is $1270/month. I split it with my roommate so it's $635/month. It is really nice and I made a great decision living off-campus. I needed a car and need my privacy.

That is not true , I've had friends over and can always go to the dorms if I wanted.

The most I paid for utilities in one month was about $94.00. Some months it was like $40.00.
