During freshman & sophomore years my average was 84. I was being bullied and there was a death in my family I felt I didn’t have anyone and gave up… But now I’m a junior I raised my avg to 95 out of 100. Next year for senior year I’m taking 2 APs (depending on how it fits my schedule) about 4 honors, I participate in several extra curricular activities I love barnard I’m scared I won’t get in to college. What should I do school wise to make myself more attractive? And do you think I have a chance?

Apply. Write your essay about how you overcame adversity. (Be sure that it comes off as inspirational, not self-pitying). Make sure that your high school g.c.knows about the bad things that were happening before.

Then also apply to a bunch of safeties.

No one knows whether you will get in, but Barnard’s admission process will give you a fair shake-- if your essays and LOR’s are also positive I think it’s worth a try.
