My dad owns a house in Cleveland, Ohio that he visits relatively frequently. On the other hand I live in Maryland. Is it possible that I gain in-state status for Ohio? My dad pays taxes and everything, also my older brother and sister went there and they received in state status .

I would think that if your sibs got in-state status then whatever they did to get it would apply to you also.

I’m sorry, but unless someone actually lives in Ohio, I would hope that they wouldn’t get in-state tuition. Owning a house in Ohio means you pay local property taxes. These pay for local schools and services. They are not the taxes that support state schools (such as Ohio State). Income taxes do that. That comes from living and working in the state. I’m not sure how your siblings received in-state tuition. Maybe you should ask your dad.

P. S. Didn’t mean this to come across as mean-spirited. Just don’t want to pay for someone else’s free ride (an OOS student getting in-state tuition). Wishing you the best of luck in your college journey.

Sorry, but I agree with SportsMama. If you want instate tuition you should go to the University of Maryland. There are plenty of instate students that would love to have your spot.

I agree…your win is our loss.
