Hello, I just finished my junior year and I was wondering if I could get into a decent UC with this info.
GPA: 3.0
SAT: 1430
I want to know if it is possible to get into a UC, or if people have gotten in with similar scores.
Thanks

Your stats are low for UC’s.You will be an easy rejection. If you can increase your SAT score like a 2100+, then probably you will have a chance. UC’s like to see grade and scores. Have you considered other schools?
Have you considered to take the ACT?
What’s your UC GPA?

Your only chance may be UC Merced and even that will be a Reach.
You should consider some Cal States such as Sac State, Sonoma, Stanislaus, San Marcos, Channel Islands etc… Your chances will be much better.
UCs are pretty unlikely with your GPA/SAT combination. I’l add Monterrey and Humboldt to the list of CSUs above.
Good luck
What if I increased my SAT Score a bit? maybe around 1800-2000. is it still no use?
That’s a pretty drastic increase from what you have now. You shouldn’t stick your nose up at CSUs though, they are respected by California employers and remarkably affordable.
@collegekid1223 what is your UC GPA? If it is below 3.0, then you can’t apply to any CSU or UC.
Yeah my UC gpa is a 3.0 flat
Even with a 2000 SAT, the UCs are pretty unlikely because of your 3.0 GPA. If you are dead set on a UC, you can transfer in as a Jr.
A significant bump if your SAT would open the door to several more CSUs including CalPoly Pomona
CSU’s GPA cutoff is usually a 2.0 and UC GPA is 3.0. CSU’s are a great alternative in cost and academics. Much will depend upon your major, but you can get an excellent education at a CSU.
Even with a higher SAT score, your GPA is still low for all the UC’s. Average for UC Merced was a 3.61 last year and UC Riverside was 3.77. Your essays and EC’s could give you a boost and it is worth apply to these two schools, but have some solid backup schools on your list. There is always CCC for 2 years and TAG to transfer into the UC’s as an option.
Yeah, I am looking into many CSUs, but obviously if I got into a UC it would be great. My major is cs anyway.
My ECs consist of many club activities, but one of my main ECs is being a vice president of a
non profit organization. Would these help
Are there indecent UCs?
Having a leadership position will help but the UC’s will consider GPA/Test scores/HS rigor and essays over EC’s.
There is nothing magical about the UC’s and some Cal States such as CSULB/Cal Poly SLO/SDSU are considered on par with UCM/UCR, so work on a realistic list where you have a good chance for acceptances. Good Luck.
