Are you an international (“was drafted” = there’s no draft in the US).
Have you taken the sat or act?
Do you have an IB score, A level results or other recognized exam results?
yeah im an international, i gave my sats and toefl 2 years ago
You must retake both the SAT and the TOEFL.
What were your scores then?
What you’ve done since HS graduation will also matter.
Are you a boy or a girl? is military service mandatory in your country?
Why do you want to study in the US?
What’s your budget?
The 2 year gap due to military service is not a problem. But everything else must be in place.
I would find a few schools that you are seriously considering, and ask them whether your SAT and TOEFL are recent enough, or if you are going to need to retake them. You will need to get your high school to send a transcript to universities that you are applying to. Hopefully they will still be cooperative.
If your SAT and TOEFL are high enough, then a GPA of 3.6 will certainly get you into good universities in the US. While the top 20 or even 50 would be a reach, and getting financial aid would be a reach, there are a lot of very good universities and getting admitted somewhere good should not be a problem as long as you can afford to pay the bill. Having a 2 or 3 year gap since high school also will not be a problem other than it might require you to retake the SAT and/or TOEFL.
The budget is a very important issue for many international students who would like to go to university in the US.
