What are my chances?

I’m a Vietnamese student and I’m currently in grade 10th at High school for the gifted -one of the best high schools in Vietnam. My GPA is 8.7/10,which is roughly on top 10%-15% class on the US scale.I haven’t taken SAT yet but I’m planning to take it in grade 11. My IETLS score is 7.0 and I’m planning to retake it because I think above 7.0 is better for international students like me.
I don’t involve much in extra curriculars in my schools.I only have several to name:
-A contributor and fact-checker for Purple Ink magazine.

  • Gold medal in public speking contest.
-Leader/mentor of English groups in ESC (English speaking club)
And I also peformed some dancing and singing shows in my school with my classmates and we won first prizes

What universities and colleges should I apply to?
Also how much SAT score should I get? Can I receive a finncial aid from schools since I don’t hve ability to pay the total tuition fee?
Thanks in advance.

Your stats are not cut for either top tier schools or decent mid tiers with merit scholarship.

Without any significant test scores, you have zero chance to go to US schools. Sorry but that is the reality. You would better to go school in Vietnam

First of all, how much can you and your family afford per year? The cost of attendance varies from 40k to almost 70k a year (USD). Once you get that info, you will know the range of schools you can apply to, but since you say you can’t afford full cost you have to look for universities that meet full need to internationals (if accepted) or give full tuition to full ride scholarships (both options are hard).
Now, let’s look at your stats:
IELTS: 7.0 is enough for most/all universities but some of them only accept TOEFL, and I wouldn’t recommend you to take it again unless the unis you want to apply to require a higher score (once you surpass the minimum score it doesn’t matter anymore).
School/GPA: your school doesn’t matter (except of it is an English medium school which can waive you the IELTS/TOEFL in certain cases) but your GPA does so 8.7/10.0 it’s like a B+. You should raise it to A at least.
New SAT: N/A, you MUST get a high score (1500+) the higher, the better. Some unis require SAT II, you should check that too.
ECs : this is difficult to quantify but some
applicants have regional to international achievements. Most people will say that your ECs are not enough, I can’t tell you anything about it.

P.D. look at the “to internationals asking huge amounts of aid” thread, there’s good info on it and there’s a link to a list that ranks universities according to the amount of aid given to internationals.
