Can I get into an Ivy with a horrible grade in math?

I have plenty of amazing extra curriculars and have great grades

BESIDES MATH.

I took honors geometry this year (my sophomore year) and it was the worst mistake of my life. I take honors everything and I just can’t do this math. I finished last marking period with an 82 (plus 7 because it’s an honors) but right now I have a 71!!! I’m going to try and get help but

What I wanted to ask was:
Will this horrible geometry grade make me unable to get into an Ivy? Preferably Cornell? I have a legacy at Cornell and think it’s beautiful and love what they offer but I feel this math score will completely ruin me

One grade will likely not ruin your chances entirely but you have plenty of time to improve the grade. See the teacher for help, get a tutor, do extra problems etc… If you are aiming for the top schools they will generally expect you to take honors math classes and get decent grades.

Bad math grades will severely affect your chances at most top schools, as mathematics is necessary or at the very least highly complementary for many subjects, from the sciences to the social sciences and even so-called “soft” disciplines (although not so much for English lit or Swahili majors).

This grade won’t disqualify you by itself, but you may want to consider tutoring or investing a lot more time in geometry.
