I currently am doing terrible in math because of remote learning. I have an 84 Q1 and currently have an 80 in Q2. I am a sophomore in Algebra 2 H and would like to study engineering or computer science. All my other classes are A’s and last year I had honors math with a course grade of 93. Do I drop my honors and take a regular course? It will erase my Algebra 2H grades. What is best for my chances to get into a good school in college? Schools similar to Cornell, NYU, Carnegie Mellon
First: don’t stress out. You’re only a sophomore. B’s won’t ruin your academic career, and this is an unusually rough year.
Second: You should discuss this with your counselor and supervisors, then talk it over with yourself. The people with a better knowledge of your academic history and capability can give you better guidance. Don’t think about getting into T20s and Ivies and just think about what level of challenges you’re comfortable with, but won’t make you burnout.
(And take all advice coming from the internet with a grain of salt.)
Colleges take rigor into account, so it might look better getting an B in honors than getting an A in a lower level course. One B won’t disqualify you from a good school.
