So Im just started senior year, and this year I have 4 AP classes. My junior year I had no Aps and a 3.6 gpa. My Sophomore year however was awful. I had no Aps and a 2.45. My sat scores were 1740, 1980, and 2050. I was on academic decathlon 2 years (and this is going to be my third year) and I was on track for one year. I have 250 service hours and interned at a hospital. (Im a california state resident) Please be honest and tell me which schools I have shot at, thanks!

i’m not great at this whole “chance” thing. ( ■■■■■■■■■■ is a great website for “chancing” you ) but i think you have a good chance at getting into BU. perhaps talk about (or get a letter of recommendation) that talks about what might have led to you having a bad soph year (other than being a lazy/idiotic student which you don’t sound like). but yeah try and raise your 1st semester senior gpa by .1 point which i think making all A’s and taking AP’s should help. I started Fresh year with a 3.61 and I ended junior year with a 3.80. Maybe i can push it to a 3.9? Perhaps you can push yours up also?. And your EC’s in my humble opinion are stellar. But then again my ECs compared to the majority of the ridiculously perfect people here at CC are dog feeces. Yours are pretty darn average for CC and pretty great in general. Don’t stress too heavily. Work hard on your essays. Show who you are. You never know!

I can’t say much on CU Boulder, BU, NYU, Michigan, or Tech (sorry about that), but I can say stuff about the UC’s

UC’s put a LOT of emphasis on the personal statement (as with other schools), so it’d be good to focus on those. For UCSC, UCSB, and UCI, a 3.6 GPA isn’t bad but do you know your UC GPA? It is good that your GPA and SAT scores have been going up (a positive trend).
Was there something in sophomore year that maybe you could explain in either your personal statement or in the additional information in the UC application? You could explain about it there.

I would think UCSC is a match for you and UCSB is at that level as well. UCI may be a slight reach since in the last year, they’ve gotten a bit more strict on their application process (for no reason really), but who knows?

College applications can sometimes be random and you never know the decision. Don’t doubt yourself, work hard for good grades senior year with those 4 AP (even though UC’s won’t see them remember but the private schools will so they can raise your GPA a lot so NO SLACKING :D), and edit edit edit those essays.

GOOD LUCK :)
