HELP!!! Do I have a chance of getting into ASU’s Barrett Honors College? Do any of your kids go to Barrett? If so what did they have?

I know its ASU (anybody can get in) but apparently the honors college is hard to get into…

Although ASU is relatively easy to get into (especially as an in-state resident), admission to Barrett is much more selective. Both your SAT scores and your GPA will need to be much higher to have a chance at Barrett next year. The average unweighted GPA of incoming Barrett students is 3.84 and SAT score is 1314 (out of 1600).

Barrett is not that easy. The scores posted by worried mom above are good benchmarks to reach. Barrett is full of students who worked hard (GPA above is unweighted, by the way). The SAT score is only the critical reading + math (not the writing), so you should add those two sections together to see if it’s near 1300.

ya my SAT score out of 1100… Barrets average is 1300 sooo what are my chances?

oh and my gpa by the end of this year is going to be 3.75

Your ECs seem really good, and while your SAT is pretty low for Barrett, your GPA was higher than mine and I got in. I was actually admitted to the Polytechnic campus because of the WUE program, but I have since been re-admitted as a student at the Tempe campus and am currently being reevaluated for scholarships.

To be honest, I was actually really surprised that I got in.
Unweighted GPA: 3.37
SAT: 1870 (1330 M+CR)
Recommendations: 2. I didn’t read them, but I know that the two teachers that wrote them for me REALLY like me (I actually reported that I was turning in 3, but my third recommender went AWOL on me haha)
Essay: Pretty good, although I didn’t get it reviewed by as many people as I probably should have. I still think it was the best application essay that I wrote. I talked about how I’ve trying to make a quick buck since I was a kid, and that I turned that entrepreneurial spirit into profits, but that I still had a lot to learn and that I thought Barrett would be an enlightening opportunity.
ECs: 2 years of being an ASB officer, 4 years of Varsity baseball, FBLA member for 2 years, California Scholarship Federation member for 2 years, Interact Club member for a year, National Honor Society member for a year.

did you go to the polytechnic campus as a honors student at first?

Did you get in??? LET ME KNow, email me or reply!!! PLEASE! thanks:)

listen, I got into Barrett with a 1710 and a 3.3 UW/ 3.7W GPA. people need to calm down and stop worrying everyone. Make sure you write a GREAT essay though.
