Can I get into BU with a 3.3 UW and 4.3 W?

I have a 3.3 UW 4.3 W GPA, no SAT/ ACT due to covid, UNICEF internship for two years plus other volunteer work, president’s volunteer service award, good LOR, and a solid essay. I’m part of NHS, founded/ president of the UNICEF club at my high school, 5 on the AP Lang exam, 4 on the APUSH exam, taken 10 AP classes throughout high school, Asian-American female. What are my chances of getting into Boston University? I also have a solid reason for my GPA drop due to health reasons. Thanks so much!

Maybe if ED. likely not but that may be the only way. Lots of great schools out there besides bu

Okay, thank you! I applied RD but I’m hoping I still have a chance because I heard the average GPA is around a 3.57.

I lean no, but feel free to tell me more about your high school.

It says at the top of the thread class of 2024. I assume you’re not high school class of 2024? Are you a high school senior?

I think taking all those AP Courses should be a positive factor for you. You could have easily taken less APs and had a higher UW GPA. I think schools should give you credit for challenging yourself but I have no idea whether the Admissions staff who evaluate your application will see it this way.

What’s your test score ? Is money an issue ? Some schools will accept those who don’t need aid. Can’t tell if BU is need blind or not. I see some lists that say yes and some that say no.

Did u apply to similar such as northeastern. Syracuse. Brandeis. And tufts…which is a bit up the charts.

I think a 3.25-3.49 UW GPA in many APs could be better than a 3.50-3.74 GPA with zero APs.

I go to a public high school with about 650 students in my class. I have taken AP classes throughout the last 4 years. I am a UNICEF USA National Council Member this year, with a glowing rec letter from senior UNICEF staff. The year before I was a UNICEF youth rep, focused on helping clubs in underserved areas around Dallas. I have completed over 200 hours of volunteer work, and am part of various clubs in my high school. My weighted GPA is a 4.3 which I thought was pretty good but I’m not sure if BU looks at that. I had my counselor review my essay and she said it was very strong and intriguing. I was also very specific and had a strong essay for the personalized BU question that they ask. I am applying as an International Relations major.

Thank you for your reply! I am a high school senior this year and applied RD

I wasn’t able to take the SAT more than once because of test closures in my area. I do need some financial aid from BU, but not much. I’m not sure if BU is need blind but they do say that they meet 100% of need for students. I applied to Syracuse as well, but would much rather attend BU.

Did your counselor indicate that you’ve taken the most challenging courses offered by your school and that you could have taken easier courses to maintain a higher UW GPA but instead you challenged yourself. I would think some admissions department would think positively of this.
