Can I still get into a good college with my stats?

Hi everyone! :) So I live in New York and I am a junior in high school. I honestly did not try very hard my freshman or sophomore year so I only have a 91 GPA :( I got A's in like every class but math in freshman year which I got an 86 on algebra. And im not sure if colleges care about how well you did on regents in New York... do they care? If so I got a 94 in bio , 81 in algebra, 78 in geometry, 96 on Global, 89 on Earth science. I could have mastered math but i didnt study for it :/

For my sophomore year I had mostly all A's but English I had an 89 and Geometry I had an 83. I know I could have done so much better freshman and sophomore year but i was dumb and didn't try in math. Math is my weakest subject but if i study i can ace it.

For my Junior year, I have an A in college U.S. History but I have 2 B's in Algebra 2/trigonometry and Chemistry. Everything else I have A's.

For other extracurricular stuff, I am in interact club(community service), I'm secretary of Art Club, I tried out for RYLA(A leadership program and was a finalist but i didnt get in), I work at my parent's restaurant everyday for about 2-3 hours. In my sophomore year I did 1 year of french club. For my senior year I will be doing interact, art club, spanish club, yearbook club. The classes I am taking my senior year are Pre Calculus(Considered a college class), Physics, Comp/Lit(College class), Sociology(College class), Statistics(College class).

I did bad on my SAT's with only a 970 but i will study over the summer and retake in the fall and i only got a 22 on my ACTS but i will study over the summer too and retake in the fall. I know that what i have is not impressive but is there any chance i can still get into a good college like Binghamton university or albany university ? :/

Yes there is a good chance you will get in! Just aim higher for the ACT and try to add 2-3 more extra-curricular activities! :)

It really depends on what schools you want and their selection process. Once I started my first semester at Baruch I asked professors around about the selection process and I was told that there is a lot of weight on SAT. Which makes sense, since I graduated with a 67 average and 1200 sat (reading/math).

You seem to have more than a fair shot for Albany. Binghamton is a very selective school with an average of a 1930 SAT score for last years freshmen class. In order to be competitive for Binghamton you will need a higher SAT score. Otherwise yes you are more than likely to get into a good school.

Worst case scenario it is not a bad idea to spend a year at a cheap CC or CUNY school. You save money and it is actually a bit easier to transfer once you’re in college. I spent a year in Baruch and was accepted to Binghamton for Fall 2014 even after they reviewed my horrendous High School transcript. Best of Luck

@Wavetactic could you please look at my thread about getting into certain colleges! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1658893-am-i-a-pretty-good-candidate-for-ivy-league-schools-or-just-any-prestigious-school-in-general.html#latest

No for Binghamton with your current stats. But I do know my brother got into Albany with a 21 ACT and 90-ish GPA, so that’s not totally unrealistic.

If i raise my sat scores to a 1200 for math and reading, do u think i can possibly get in?

You definitely want at the least a 1200. That won’t guarantee you admission but will definitely make you a more viable candidate. 1260-1300+ would give you better odds. Just make sure to highlight your extra curriculars and write a good essay.

Hmm is it ok if i dont take sats and just take acts instead? I think i can improve way easier on acts cause it is knowledge based. And sat is logic
